Find your firstissuePR

What is FirstPR?

FirstPR is a free, open-source web app that helps developers land their first open-source pull request. Match finds open, unassigned good-first issues on public GitHub repos. Explain points to the real files an issue touches. Review scores your pull request against the issue and CONTRIBUTING.md. It never writes the fix for you.

Step 1

Match

Enter a GitHub username. We pick an open good first issue nobody claimed.

Step 2

Explain

Plain English, real files and lines — hints in three levels, never the fix.

Step 3

Review

Paste your PR or diff. We score it against the issue and CONTRIBUTING.md.

Fresh good first issues

How a first PR goes

Match reads a GitHub username and optional repo, then lists open good-first issues with no assignee. The public example used on this site is nishal21/NekoDroid.

What FirstPR will never do

  • Write your code, a commit message, or a patch.
  • Open, push, or merge a pull request for you.
  • Replace the maintainer’s review.

FirstPRbot · GitHub App

One quiet comment on every PR

Install FirstPRbot and each pull request gets a single summary a maintainer can read in ten seconds. It edits itself on every push instead of piling up new comments.

What maintainers get

  1. A verdict up topReady for review, needs a few changes, or not linked to an issue. Nothing to decode.
  2. The checks you'd do by handLinked issue, assignee, CONTRIBUTING.md, tests, scope and first-time contributor in one short table.
  3. Where to look firstUp to three files or lines worth reading, plus next steps for the contributor that never write the fix.

Questions

No. Explain and the hint ladder are written to refuse code-for-me requests. You edit the repo yourself.
